For many, Friday 13th carries an air of superstition. A day whispered about in hushed tones. A date associated with bad luck. But what if we’ve misunderstood it completely? What if Friday 13th is actually one of the most powerful, mystical days in the calendar? Let’s go deeper…
The Goddess of Friday
Friday is named after Frigg (or Freya in Norse mythology) Goddess of love, fertility, beauty, intuition, magic and sovereignty. She was a powerful divine feminine archetype, independent, intuitive, deeply connected to nature and the unseen realms.
Friday was originally considered a sacred day to honour her. A day for love, creativity, pleasure and feminine wisdom. Think of the song and saying ‘It’s Friday I’m in love’.

The Sacred Number 13
Before patriarchy reshaped spiritual narratives, the number 13 was deeply sacred.
There are:
- 13 lunar cycles in a year
- 13 weeks in each season.
- Approximately 13 menstrual cycles in a year
Thirteen represents the rhythms of the moon. The feminine body. Death and rebirth. Transformation. It symbolises endings that create beginnings. Shedding skin. Stepping into new cycles.
Over time, as goddess traditions were suppressed, both Friday (the feminine) and 13 (the lunar cycle) were labelled as unlucky.
Coincidence? Probably not.
The Historical Shadow
Some historians link the “bad luck” narrative to Friday 13th October 1307, when King Philip IV of France ordered the arrest of the Knights Templar.
A dramatic event. Yes. But superstition often grows when power feels threatened.
When you look at it spiritually, Friday 13th feels less of a curse and more like a reclamation.
Why It’s a Powerful Manifesting Day
Friday holds the Venus energy of love, worthiness, abundance, magnetism. The number 13 holds lunar, cyclical, transformative energy.
Together?
It’s a portal.
A day to release old identities can call in a new chapter. A day to honour intuition. A day to manifest from alignment rather than force.
Friday 13th Ritual
you will need:
A candle (white or pink)
A journal
A quiet space.

- Light the candle and take 3 slow breaths.
- Place one hand on your heart as ask: What part of me is ready to be released?
- Write down what you’re letting go of – beliefs, fears, patterns etc..
- On a new page, write what you are calling in. Be specific. Speak as if it is already unfolding.
- Close by saying:
“I honour the cycles of my becoming. I release with trust and receive with power.”
Let the candle burn safely for a little while as you sit in gratitude.
Journal Prompts
Where have I been playing small out of fear?
What transformation is quietly asking to happen in my life?
What would I manifest if I trusted my power fully?
How can I honour my feminine intuition more deeply?

Friday 13th isn’t something to be fear. It’s something to remember.
A day of reclamation.
A day of magic.
A day to trust the unseen.
With love,
